On Saturday morning, 11 February, despite long journeys through the snow, and many other commitments, 20 teachers gathered at Leyburn, North Yorkshire, to explore their own writing - and to start a new NWP teachers' writing group.
We used lists of stories, anecdotes and family myths to free-write about memories of significant people and places.
We used writing approaches which can be found on this site.
... and we discussed the therapeutic effects of writing together. We talked about writing to make our thoughts clearer to ourselves. We talked about writing for learning. We talked about how, revisiting our creativity together, we felt restored and strengthened. And we talked about how we could bring some of this into our classrooms.
And some of us even wanted to do it again.
